ANDY GOLDSWORTHY

Andy is a British environmental artist as he uses natural materials to create his artwork like leaves, rocks, ice and branches.

He is a sculptor, photographer and environmentalist who produces majority of his work outdoors.

Growing up he worked on a farm when he wasn’t in school so he has always had an interest in the outdoors. He did study art at Bradford School of Art. Later he found his preference for creating art outdoors than in the studio with natural materials found on site.

His collaborations with nature show what nature is capable of. He has patience and waits for specific weathers like rainfall and snowfall.

WHAT DO I THINK OF HIS WORK

I admire his work. His work is so aesthetically pleasing. It is fascinating to see what he creates and how it would be created. It looks as though the colours are as vibrant as they are due to photoshop but these are naturally source items that are naturally that colour. He travels the world to create these pictures which is probably why they are so bright as opposed to what we find here.

We created our own art piece inspired by Andy. In ours we used some painted acorns from our friend and created a few shapes around a small tree we found at the park on our THIRD PARK VISIT.

Our friend painted some acorns he found the day before bright blue. He created the first shape of a basic circle around the tree we found. Then me and Callum use them to create a random pattern we felt would work well which did. The we created the EXTINCTION REBELLION SYMBOL

HOW DID THIS GO

I think it went really well, it was by chance we were able to create something like this and the photographs of this looked great. We could possibly use Photoshop to edit this image to contrast the dull and bright colours more.

He is similar to the artist STEFAN SAGMEISTER as they both create their artwork within the environment, eventhough some of Stefans work is on peoples bodys, he also creates typography on buildings or in woods etc.
