STEFAN SAGMEISTER

Stefan was born in Austria and his first career was writing for a magazine. During his student days in New York he worked with a designer at M&Co, and after 5 years they hired Sagmeister.

Not long after M&Co disbanded and set out to have his won company. Sagmeister then began to specialise in CD cover design and founded Sagmeister Inc in 1993.

He worked on printing and packaging using laser cuts, dye cuts etc.

Later on he started to work on text based artwork, he created building letterforms that spell out and illustrate quotes from his own diary.

In 2012 he also changed his logo due to the addition of his business partner Jessica Walsh.

WHAT DO I THINK OF HIS WORK

I am more fond of his work with typography and how it makes words our of objects he finds, or how he paints it on people. I wanted to look into this artist as I could make wording out of objects I find. This style is kind of shown within MY POSTER as I have make typography using negative space but painted it with natural materials from my FIRST PARK VISIT.

This is also shown where I made the alphabet from my SECOND PARK VISIT and then created MY SLOGAN using these images

He is similar to the artist ANDY GOLDWORTHY as they both incorporate their art into nature. Sagmeister creates words on buildings, in forests and in everyday places and from what I see, he tries to link the words with the environment.
